Thrive: 2013

This summer I had the amazing experience to travel with a group of other students to the beautiful country of Costa Rica. We spent 2 incredible weeks exploring all this country had to offer including adrenaline rushes like whitewater rafting and ziplining, tropical rainforests, stunning foliage and wildlife, the breathtaking mountains, beaches, the entertaining locals, and so much more. I would recommend this be a place to go for anyone who enjoys nature; the rainforest is truly an experience like none other. The memories of this place will last for the rest of my life, I have no doubt.

One of my favorite things we did on the trip was ziplining. I had been wanting to do this for a while so what better place to start than in a foreign country?! It ended up being even more of an adventure when halfway through the course we had the option of jumping off of a 50ft cliff on a tarzan-style rope swing! I pride myself in saying I was not the least bit fearful of the drop! The feeling of falling off a cliff and swinging into the tropical trees is exhilarating. After this event, we embarked up the mountain more to our last zipline, the 1 kilometer long one. By this point, it had started downpouring. (It's not called the rainforest for nothing!) We got to go doubles on this line so my best friend and I partnered up and zoomed 1 kilometer over a breathtaking valley in pouring rain. Definitely an experience I cherish.
